Requirements to participate. You must
- Have a complete Big Y test with FTDNA/FamilyTreeDNA (test only
for men because they have the Y chromosome). There is a delay of
some weeks between the end of the test and the final haplogroup
(after the manual review)
- Have joined the French
Heritage project on FTDNA
- Discover itself is updated each Friday, as can be seen in your personal results.
- Subgroups used for the "Group Time Tree" (links on this page) are refreshed the next Friday with their content.
So there is a delay (up to two weeks) between joining and regrouping, and the publication of your results in these charts.
- The haplogroups inside R1b are very varied and R1b is very
large. It includes about 80% of French people. To be sub-grouped
quickly, be sure to identify the right paternal ancestor,
preferably with his wife "Configuration -> Genealogy". In
New-France or in the New World, the immigrant. In Europe, the
Earliest Known Ancestor.
- If you have no paternal French origin, there are subgroups "Zz
Observer" with haplogroups for subgrouping. In some cases, you
can be grouped with a tentative ancestor (adoptees, unknown
ancestors, etc.), but if the far ancestor is unknown, it will be an "observer" group.
